JOB SUMMARY:
The Health Coach Manager provides operational leadership, oversight, and performance management for the Health Coaching program at PeopleOne Health across all markets.
This role is responsible for leading Health Coaches, standardizing coaching workflows, and ensuring consistent, high-quality member engagement that supports behavior change, preventive care, and improved health outcomes. The Health Coach Manager partners closely with clinical leadership, operations, and care teams to align coaching services with organizational goals and value-based care initiatives.
This role oversees health coach-related training and onboarding, supports interdisciplinary education efforts, and partners with clinical leadership to drive quality improvement, and cost-containment strategies. In addition, the Health Coach Manager is responsible for optimizing health coach-related workflows, supporting program development, and ensuring appropriate utilization of interventions across populations.
This is a working manager role that combines team leadership, program oversight, and direct involvement in coaching strategy, quality improvement, and member experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Hiring, onboarding, and training of health coach team members
- Scheduling and workload distribution to ensure efficient clinic and operational support
- Performance management, including annual evaluations and ongoing feedback
- Conducting regular 1:1 check-ins and coaching conversations to support staff development
- Approving PTO and managing attendance to maintain appropriate staffing levels
- Monitoring productivity and quality metrics to ensure high performance and accountability
- Ensuring role clarity, accountability, and alignment with organizational goals
- Providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for team members
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, member-centered coaching that supports navigation, education, advocacy, and benefit utilization
- Promote consistent application of behavior change techniques, goal setting, and barrier resolution strategies
- Monitor team interactions to ensure adherence to established standards and best practices
- Reinforce a supportive, non-judgmental, and engaging member experience across all touchpoints
- Oversee screening processes for Social Determinants of Health needs
- Ensure appropriate identification, resource linkage, and follow-up for members
PROGRAM OVERSIGHT & WORKFLOW STANDARDIZATION:
- Oversee daily operations of the Health Coaching program across markets
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to Health Coaches to ensure consistent delivery of services
- Manage scheduling, workload distribution, and staffing to meet program and member needs
- Serve as escalation point for complex cases, workflow issues, and member concerns
TEAM LEADERSHIP & PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
- Lead onboarding and ongoing training for Health Coaches, including systems, workflows, and coaching methodologies
- Develop, maintain, and update training materials, tools, and best practice resources
- Support interdisciplinary education efforts in collaboration with clinical and operational teams
- Ensure team competency in healthcare navigation, benefits education, and population health principles
- Serve as escalation point for health coaching-related issues
INTERDISCIPLINARY COLLABORATION:
- Partner with clinical teams, Member Success, and other stakeholders to support wellness programming and care coordination
- Align coaching initiatives with organizational population health and value-based care strategies
- Contribute to program implementation, ongoing operations, and continuous improvement initiatives
QUALITY, COMPLIANCE & COST MANAGEMENT:
- Ensure adherence to confidentiality standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies
- Oversee accurate and timely documentation within required systems to support program integrity and reporting
PROGRAM GROWTH & STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT:
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve workflows, member engagement, and coaching effectiveness
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and operational optimization efforts
- Support the evolution of coaching processes, tools, and program structure to enhance scalability and outcomes
- Guide team engagement with community organizations and local support services
OTHER DUTIES:

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of health, nutrition, fitness, and wellness principles with the ability to guide and develop others in their application
- Demonstrated understanding of behavior change principles and coaching methodologies, including the ability to coach others
- Ability to lead, manage, and support multiple projects and initiatives while maintaining strong attention to detail and accurate records
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations across a range of backgrounds, experiences, and needs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across clinical, operational, and client-facing stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to foster collaboration across teams
- Highly organized with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands
- Demonstrates professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion in all interactions
- Comfortable navigating healthcare-related systems, data platforms, and coaching tools
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and evolving environment
- Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, and initiative in problem-solving and workflow management
- Maintains strict adherence to confidentiality and client privacy standards
- Practices active listening and applies empathy in both leadership and member interactions
- Maintains a positive, solution-oriented, and collaborative approach to work
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS :
- Certification in health coaching (e.g., NBC-HWC) or related wellness/fitness certification preferred but not required
- Preferred, but not required, candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish or proficient in medical Spanish
- EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of experience in health coaching, care management, population health, or a related field
- 1–3 years of leadership, supervisory, or program management experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of the health care and insurance industry
